Menlo Park Sidwalk Art Show

This weekend I will be in Menlo Park, Oct 14-16 for my final show of 2011. I will have a few giclee reproductions, small ones, but of course I will have my watercolor on canvas, original paintings.
You can find me on Santa Cruz Ave. in front of the Village Stationers, on the sidewalk. They don't close the street down for this show.

I'll be showing my work this coming weekend at the Montclair Village Sidewalk Art Show. Montclair Village is a small Oakland Hills community off of Hwy. 13, south of Hwy. 24 as you go to, or from Walnut Creek area. The downtown area is off of Moraga Ave. Take the Park St. exit off of Hwy 13.
My "booth" is in front of Starbucks on Mountain Blvd. Would love to see you!

Northstar Art Show Labor Day Weekend

I'll be showing and selling my work this coming Labor Day Weekend at Lake Tahoe...Northstar Resort. I wish I could tell you how to get there....I don't know myself yet!! The show is Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2, 3 & 4.
I do know that Northstar is a great get-a-way location, with things to do for the whole family.

I'll be in Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe this coming holiday weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday night there is a free concert, and fireworks at Squaw, so come early then stay for the fun.

Watercolor on Canvas - Oakland this weekend

My recent work is transparent watercolors on canvas. The canvas has been created specifically for watercolors, and the end result of this is my ability to paint much larger watercolor paintings than the traditional watercolor. Watercolors on paper must be framed to protect the surface, and these on canvas are waterproof. A flood could impact the image, but a wine spill or water squirt will not.
I have worked in oil, acrylics and watercolors in the past, and I combine the techniques from all of these mediums on the new canvases. Along with a soft palatte, the large watercolor washes not possible with oils and acrylics, so loved by watercolor enthusiasts, is one of the real joys.
I am showing my new work in Montclair Village, Oakland, this weekend, June 24, 25 & 26. I am located in front of the Starbucks on Mountain Blvd. There is a link to a map of this location to the right.

Saratoga Rotary Art Show This Sunday

Sunday May 1 is the Annual Saratoga Rotary Fine Art Show. I will be in my usual location. If you enter the West Valley College campus from the Fruitvale entrance ( I believe this is the main entrance) my booth is to the far left of the show. As a matter of fact, I am the farthest booth to the left, and you can probably see my paintings from the road. There is a link to a map of the college to the right of this post.

Belmont This Weekend

I'm vertical and mobile after being in bed for a week and a half with the cold from hell. I've got some work done, some more to do, and I'll see you in Belmont I hope. The show is at the Carlemont Shopping Center at the intersection of Ralston and Alameda de las Pulgas. The Carlemont Pharmacy is at the front of the Center, and I am in front of the pharmacy.
We will be there rain or shine, since there are eaves overhead. This is a nice feature in March.
I may post some pictures of new work later, but if you havn't received my newsletter, sign up at the top of this blog, and I will send it to you with the Newsletter Special and all the pictures.

Oil Painting Clearance at San Carlos Art & Wine Show,This Weekend, Oct. 9 & 10

I am clearing out my studio of my oil paintins, giclee reproductions and several watercolors on paper. I will have these at the San Carlos show this coming weekend, Oct. 9 & 10. I won't have any of my new work, the watercolors on canvas, at this show, but I will take them to Menlo Park the next weekend.
I have reduced the prices on these works significantly. It is too difficult to display the different mediums at a show, so I would rather find some good homes for this work, then continue to paint with the watercolors exclusively.
I have several giclee reproductions that will also be reduced. Large, 30 x 40 giclee's of several oil paintings I did will be available in several sizes, some framed, some not. I don't have good photos of these to post here, but most of you have seen these in the past at the shows.
My booth is on Laurel @ Cherry, on the north side of the street, on the corner.

My wife has certainly been neglectful of my blog. She apologizes.
I have several new paintings that I will be showing this October. They are all watercolors on canvas. I will be in my usual spot downtown Montclair Village this coming weekend, Oct. 2 & 3, then on the peninsula in San Carlos, then Menlo Park. I am always available however to bring some paintings by your home, so you can see the fit, the light and all the things necessary to place a piece of art in your home.

Los Altos Art & Wine Show This Weekend- July 10 & 11

Oakland Art Show this Weekend

I will be in Montclair Village this Friday, Saturday and Sunday showing my watercolors on canvas. My booth location is in front of Starbucks. This is a sidewalk show, so they don't close off the street, and my work is set up right on the sidewalk. It isn't the best way to view art, but it works.
The show goes from 10-6, except for Sunday when it closes at 5pm. The dates are June 25, 26 & 27, 2010.

La Quinta

The weather in Palm Desert ( or is it La Quinta desert?) is absolutely beautiful. It is in the light 70's, with only light breezes. This show is known for great art, and high, dangerous winds, so these light breezes are such a godsend! Great crowds, and it is only day 2 of the show!

La Quinta Fine Art Festival

I will be in Southern California next week, and weekend to do the La Quinta Fine Arts Festival. This art show is ranked 8th nationwide, and is partially funded by Southwest Art Magazine. It is a fundraiser for the La Quinta Arts Foundation, and I hope I sell a lot so I can help support them!!

Old Watercolors at Menlo Park

My wife found a box of watercolors on paper that she convinced me to take to Menlo Park. They are unmatted, unframed paintings that will sell for $75 - $125. There are some nice little paintings in this pile!!!

I will be showing a new piece in Walnut Creek this weekend, Friday Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25, 26 & 27. I am located on N. Main Street, at the corner of Bonanza, and at the right of this blog there is a link to a map of this location.
The new painting is called "Resting in the Delta", and shows Mt. Diablo from the eastern side.

Los Altos Rotary Fine Art Show 2009

I'll be in Lincoln Park this weekend with my new watercolors on canvas, May 16 & 17, in Los Altos. My space number is 127, and that is on the Foothill Expressway side of the show, close to the middle of the park. Lincoln Park is a very very long, narrow strip of grass and trees that runs along the Expressway. If you go to the link to a map at the right of this blog, make sure you zoom in to see the park name. For some reason, Mapquest got the location correct, but it doesn't identify the park until you zoom in.

Saratoga Show This Sunday

The Saratoga Rotary Art Show is this Sunday, May 3, at the West Valley Community College. The show starts at 9am, and ends at 5pm.
If you click on the link to the right, it will take you to a map to the college. I believe that the road on the map leading you into the College off of Fruitvale goes into the main parking lot, and my booth borders that parking lot, on the farthest right end of the visible booths.
If this is bad information, blame my wife.

Sacramento this weekend

I will be showing my new work at the Sacramento Art Fiesta this weekend, June 7 & 8. Located at the Town and Country Shopping Center at Marconi and Fulton, this show has been a fundraiser for the local Kiwanis for about 40 years, I think. My booth will be in " Canopy Row", the only White Tents at the event, located behind the Mexican Restaurant which is across from the Traders Joes.

Walnut Creek Sidewalk Art Show This Weekend

The wind last weekend in Menlo Park ( and everywhere else in California I have been told) was very bad. My display almost blew over, and this has never happened in Menlo Park. But it was sunny, so there is something to be said for that. My new work was very well received.

This coming weekend, Walnut Creek. I am located between the Silk Road Restaurant and Crepes A Go-Go - Friday Saturday and Sunday April 25, 26 & 27. 10-5.

Watercolors on Canvas

I have been a professional artist for 19 years, focusing on the landscapes and seascapes of Northern California, with occasional diversions to other local. I started as a transparent watercolorist, and eventually moved into oils and acrylics.

Recently however, I discovered a new canvas that allowed the use of transparent watercolors. This allowed the marriage of watercolors with some of the oil and acrylic techniques I had learned. The look of the canvas is more like an oil, the texture of the surface and the way it wraps around the thick edge of the wooden canvas frame. I show them unframed, called a "gallery wrap", which means they can be hung as is, or framed. Traditional watercolors need a frame and glass to protect them. These new surfaces are coated to protect them from accidental water spills or spots, and the sun of course.

I do not mix media on my watercolor canvas, so they are truly transparent watercolors.
